JAWS Version 10 - aplication mode?

Hi everyone!

I'm a JAWSD user, and I use version 10. On some websites, jaws seems to go into something called 'application mode', which makes the websites virtually impossible to navigate.

Does anyone know what application mode' might be, and how I stop JAWS from doing this?

Thanks! :D

I guess you're using mozilla. right?

If yes, that will often take you to that mode. it's actually not the jaws giving you trouble, in my opinion, your mozilla is asking you whether to install the required add ons or not. Try using your jaws cursur and find it out what it is asking for.

Wait for some more techies' replies as well.

Back in version 10 there was not very good support for aria which means when you access a site such as Yahoo an it's implomentation of this markup, you'll likely have a problem. Try pressing escape, which will work briefly.

Thanks guys! I'm using Internet Explorer... does that make a difference? Sorry, I'm not very tecky at all, I just use computers to do what I need to do, and tend to get frustrated when they dont cooperate! :)

No, it's not a mozilla thing. It's an aria thing. I actually encounter it more with IE. Anyway, try insert z to turn it off. I'm on JAWS 12 but hopefully it works in 10 as well.

application mode canbe turned off by pressing insert+f4 to unload Jaws and then restart it. When Jaws starts to read the page, press control to stop speech.
